Toyota Camry and Honda Accord Lock Horns Yet Again in 2017!

The Camry and Accord have been butting heads on American highways for decades now. They are the poster children of their respective car makers and each gets great sales from them. Quite simply not a commute will go by where you won’t see a bevy of Camrys and Accords on the road. The two have been competing near the top of the midsize sedan market ever since they’ve been imported to the United States.

Features – Accord

The Honda Accord at the base level comes with a much higher level of features. It’s a great base level vehicle. The Camry can’t compete at the entry level. However the options become far more expensive for the Accord as you’re looking for even more features in your car. The Camry starts with less, but it’s less pricey to add to it.

Price – Camry

Both cars start at about the same price. The Accord price range starts from $22,500 up to about $35,000 for a fully loaded model. The Camry starts higher at about $23,000 but ends lower at about $31,370. What’s more, the Accord comes with more standard features. This generally means the optional extras are rarer and even more expensive. The Toyota Camry Tends to win once we start adding more features. It provides more at a lower cost point for their high end product.

Faults – Even

Alright, so both cars are really well done and have been refined to a polish not many vehicles can hope to reach. However each does have a few faults. The Camry is a great car once you get past the base model. There’s a lot of features that are left off from the base price range and probably could have been included. The Accord suffers from an odd trunk. This may not be an issue for some people, but the shape of it actually prevents some items that should fit from being able to fit into that trunk.

Power-train – Even

Alright, to be fair, this should go to the Accord. It offers more horsepower. But it just doesn’t feel that way. The V6 combined with Toyota’s six speed automatic actually feels better. At any point if you need power, it’s there to deliver it to you. The Camry V6 produces 268 horsepower and the Accord V6 gives 278 horsepower. Both have entry level 4 cylinder engine options. The Accord again has a slight advantage with 185 horsepower vs. the 178 horsepower that the Camry has. Yet despite all these, the Camry is more enjoyable to drive. However the Accord is able to give you those.

Verdict – Variable

If you’re going for the low price range car, you want to stick with the Accord. It’s got better features in the low end vehicle. If you’re looking at getting a fully equipped car, you want to look into the Toyota Camry. The optional V6 is a great engine and definitely is the better option for the Camry. So basically it depends on what you’re looking at. If you’re looking to sneak into the mid-size market from the compact market, then jump on the Accord. If you’re looking for a refined fully loaded masterpiece, then go for the Camry!
