Chrysler Town & Country – 12 Million Sold
You’d think that one of the most boring, uninspiring, dorky vehicles ever made would surely not hold title as one of the best-selling cars of all time. You’d be wrong. That’s because the Chrysler Town & Country minivan (ugh) has sold over 12 million models across its impressive lifespan.
Okay, so the Town & Country is not entirely vomit-inducing. It was technically marketed as a luxury passenger van, and it did come with some pretty nice appointments inside the spacious cabin. For example, optional leather seats and some rather attractive double-stitched dash leather encompassed a set of a rather impressive climate, comfort, and infotainment features – features otherwise reserved for luxury sedans.
Captain’s chairs up front lead three rows of well-spaced seating, ensuring John and Sue wouldn’t get into slapping matches over the box of Goldfish they took turns sharing. The seats even folded completely flat, leaving no awkward voids or pits in the cab, allowing the Town & Country to haul an impressive amount of stuff.
Mechanically identical to the Chrysler Caravan and Plymouth Voyager, the Town & Country was built on a proven, reliable, affordable chassis. It saw rave reviews year after year until it was recently retired in 2016. The Town & Country basically lives on in the re-branded Chrysler Pacifica.
