Ford Mustang – 9 Million Sold
Muscle dominated American streets since the early 60’s, and one car has managed to edge out its competitors since 1964: The Ford Mustang. While certainly considered a niche car for a segmented market, Ford’s pony has still grossed over 9 million units made and sold. Ever wonder why there are never any commercials showcasing the ever-evolving, ever-more-powerful Mustang? Ford doesn’t need them. The car quite literally sells itself.
In fact, the Mustang is one of Ford’s most profitable vehicles. The Mustang manages to fulfill numerous consumer needs: It’s spacious, providing comfort for a small family. It offers plenty of cargo space, allowing it to play the role of weekend grocery getter or home improvement transport. Its V6 and EcoBoost models sport impressive MPGs, allowing it function as a daily commuter. And of course, its V8 models continue to offer some of the best performance numbers relative to price.
Few other cars can accomplish such a feat, but the Mustang has been doing it for over six decades. What’s more, the Mustang’s new available MagneRide suspension, twin-disc clutch or 10-speed auto transmission, and independent rear setup make it a proper track car right off the factory floor. The 2018’s improved 5.0L motor pumps out over 400 horses to the wheels and the auto trans helps the new pony get from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds, faster than some Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The new Mustang has already beat its competitors at their own, individual games, and we expect the Mustang to continue its success for many more generations.
