Lamborghini Gallardo – Fewer
It’s only fitting that we end our list out with one of the least sold cars of all time, right? Of course, it is one of the most popular supercars ever produced, and it is still the bestselling Lamborghini in history: The Gallardo. Produced from 2003 to 2013, the Gallardo was produced 14,022 times, making it more popular than the next four top models (the Murcielago, Huracan, Aventador, and Diablo) combined. Why?
Historically, Lamborghini has been first to market with many things – powertrains, engines, chassis, bodies, features, numbers, and the list goes on. But being first to market in the supercar world usually means sacrificing practicality and any value or semblance of order. The Gallardo miraculously balanced these things. While it sported some impressive things, like a 90-degree 5.0L and uneven-firing 5.2L V10, an electro-hydraulic semiautomatic transmission, and over 500 horses, the Gallardo was a rather practical, comfortable, attractive car to drive.
The Gallardo certainly espoused Lamborghini’s mantra of excessiveness and extremes. It boasted a 0-60 time of around 3.6 seconds, a top speed of around 200 miles per hour, tuned suspension options, over-the-top design accouterments like engine bay LED lighting, diamond pattern leather upholstery, and classic Lamborghini styling. But this car was more refined, matured, and practical – enough so that it even made quite a popular police cruiser in Italy, Panama, and Dubai.
