20 Toughest SUVs Around The World

Chevrolet Suburban

Sometimes you hear size matters and know that isn’t the case. When someone talks about hauling an entire clan of people around, size really matters. The Chevrolet Suburban has been providing that size and strength for decades.

The Suburban is one of the longest-running vehicles in the world. It has been produced in one form or another since 1935. The early vehicle was a large station wagon. The vehicle was a great utility vehicle that allowed people to use the Suburban for various jobs. It was often a 2 door option and used most of the space in the vehicle for storage and cargo.

The Suburban finally moved to a four-door version for good in 1973. From that point on it became one of the largest and strongest sport utility vehicles to ever be created. This early version had V8 diesel options ranging from 5.7L to 6.2L. The gasoline options range from 5.7L to 7.4L V8s to make this behemoth move. It wasn’t exactly a speed demon. It’s 0-60 mph time was sitting around a beefy 10 seconds. While that may have been fast for a vehicle in the 1930’s, it was definitely not a fast vehicle, but it was a monster.

The Suburban was the perfect vehicle for a family that enjoyed performing outdoor activities in remote locations. No matter how much stuff you needed to bring with you, the Suburban always had room for it and more. There was no better vehicle for the opening week of cottage season when you need to go up and do all kinds of maintenance while transporting all of the things you had purchased over the winter to add to your cottage. Suburbans with kayaks and canoes on roof racks have always been a common sight. The Suburban has shown no signs of going away. More luxurious versions like the Yukon XL and the Escalade will exist, but there will always be a place for a rugged beast like the Suburban.
