The 2019 Audi e-tron – The all-electric SUV

The 2019 Audi e-tron Quattro just had its global reveal in September, and it has already received a great deal of attention. This is the first-ever all-electric SUV from Audi, and it is ready to make a strong impression. Although the E-Tron Quattro only recently debuted, a concept car previewed in 2015 inspired it. The e-tron Quattro’s design competes with the Tesla Model X and is an addition to the existing Audi hybrid models that already have an “e-tron” badge.

Size

The 2019 e-tron Quattro is larger than the Q5 but larger than the Q7, holding its own spot within the Audi lineup. This size means that the e-tron Quattro can deliver more than enough space for the average use without becoming a full-size vehicle. It is a good choice for anyone who does not need an excessive amount of room or who still wants to be able to navigate urban areas.

Styling

The styling of the Audi e-tron includes many features that are familiar from other Audi vehicles. While you get the familiar single-frame grille that features vertical struts, the e-tron features enclosed lower and upper areas that compare to the typical openings on other Audis. This difference helps keep the e-tron separate from other Audis. The e-tron Quattro has standard LED headlamps with sharp edges with four-stripe daytime running lights in the lower corners. Audi created this design to remind drivers of the indicators for charging status. The rear of the e-tron looks like other Audi SUVs with its solid bumper, larger roof spoiler, and wide tailgate.

Interior

It should come as no surprise that the interior of the 2019 Audi e-tron Quattro is luxurious. You will notice a more traditional layout with two rectangular air vents on the center stack. Enjoy the standard four-zone air conditioning, panoramic glass roof, and an electronically operated tailgate. There is also the option of Valcona leather and natural wood inlays or special stitching. Other available features include an air quality package, multi-adjustable contour seats in front complete with massage, and an ambient lighting/contour package.

Technology

To add that premium feel, there are large screens that work with the standard MMI Plus system. That system includes the latest technology, like navigation, Wi-Fi, LTE, and natural language recognition. There is also full Alexa integration.

Powertrain

As an electric vehicle, most drivers will want to know about the mechanical components of the 2019 Audi E-tron Quattro. There are two electric motors that give this SUV as much as 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet and a top speed of 124 mph. It can tow up to 4,000 pounds and features an electric AWD system. The range of the E-tron is more than 200 miles, and it can get up to 60 mph from a stop in 5.5 seconds.

There are two ways to recover energy with the E-tron. It can take advantage of coasting recuperation when you release the accelerator pedal. Or you can release the brake pedal and enjoy braking recuperation. In terms of charging, there is both DC and AC charging. The battery can even charge 80 percent in a half-hour with a high-speed public charging station.
