Review: 2018 Camaro ZL1

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 is one of several versions of the popular sports car from Chevrolet and the best option for those who want to enjoy extreme power and performance or just enhance their sporty feel. New for 2018, the ZL1 models get the 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package. This delivers Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R summer tires, an adjustable suspension that includes spool-valve dampers, and aggressive aerodynamics.

Performance

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 is the choice for ultimate performance, specifically in the ZL1 1LE variation. Either of those two configurations will give you a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers 650 horsepower. Between this engine and other performance-enhancing features, the Camaro ZL1 can hit 60 miles per hour from a complete stop in just 3.5 seconds. It only needs 11.4 seconds to finish a quarter mile and will reach top speeds of 198 miles per hour.

In terms of extra performance features, the Camaro ZL1 has you set. It includes Brembo brakes featuring six-piston calipers and 15.35-inch two-piece rotors in the front. It also has an electronic limited-slip differential, Magnetic Ride Control Dampers, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.

Behind the Wheel

As you can expect given the above figures, driving the 2018 Camaro ZL1 will be a thrilling experience, particularly if you have access to a race track. You will experience power that seems unquenchable in addition to being dramatic and breathtaking. Keep your eye on the speedometer. You may not notice the auto inching up past the legal limit thanks to how easily it goes fast. The 10-speed automatic transmission that is exclusive to this version of the Chevy Camaro delivers smooth shifts and can quickly drop multiple gears for a downshift.

Styling

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

Just looking at the 2018 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will let you know that this is a sports car you should take seriously. For the sixth generation, Chevrolet toned down some of the bold stylings while retaining a chopped roofline and high sills. There are strong rear haunches plus sweeping rear roof pillars. Those who appreciate classic Camaros will recognize the 2018’s inspiration from the 1967 and 1968 model years in the grille, which is thin. The interior has a more open feeling than in the previous model year, including better materials and fewer seams.

Interior

Speaking of the interior, the front seats of the Camaro ZL1 are comfortable and everything you want. However, the rear seats are somewhat lacking and cramped. Don’t expect to use the rear seats for adults other than for a very quick drive, at least not without complaints. However, those in front get good legroom and headroom, even if they have a helmet on for driving on the track. The seats are supportive and have a nice shape. On the ZL1, the 2018 Camaro has Recaro bucket seats in front and a flat-bottom steering wheel with suede, which you will also find on the shift knob. The trunk is only 9.1 cubic feet, or 7.3 cubes in the convertible, so do not expect to fit too much.
