Tesla Model 3 – $35000 – 215 Mile Range

If you haven’t already reserved your model 3, don’t bother trying to do so. Tesla has already received over 400,000 reservations for the Model 3 in its various iterations. The starting price and base range of the Model 3 are actually pretty solid for electric vehicles. There will be high performance options as well as potential range boosting options.

Another exciting option is that each Model 3 is going to be capable of self driving. It program itself will not need to be installed in the car, but the hardware will be there in case the drivers change their mind, or if future owners wish to have it installed. The Model 3 is expected to begin production in late 2017 and then will run until all those reservations get finished off.

Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro SUV – $75000 – 310 Mile Range

Volkswagen is one manufacturer that’s been working hard on producing a large bulk of electric cars for sale in the future. Volkswagen is expecting to continue to tramp up production and peak at 2025 at around 3 million fully electric cars.

Production is slated to begin in 2018 in Brussels and the Q6 should be available for purchase soon after that. The Q6 is one of a variety of electric cars that the Volkswagen brand is going to be producing as they try to take a large leap from their “oops” over their diesel engines.

Porsche Mission-E – $A Lot – 310 Mile Range

Of course if you are excited for an electric car, it makes sense that it comes from Porsche. The Porsche Mission-E was revealed last year at the Geneva International Motor Show to some rave reviews. Pricing is still a fair ways off, but it seems reasonably fair to assume it’s not going to be competing with the Tesla Model 3 or the Focus Electric.

Porsche is working on creating an electric Sports Car that will give people goose bumps as they are driving and match the ability of its gasoline powered siblings. They’ve stated they will have a 0 to 60 time of less than 3.5 seconds. Porsche is also working on a special high voltage charging system. The system can provide a huge amount of charge (about 80%) in 15 minutes. This is important if you take your car for a track day, or or are in a rush.

Audi A9 e-tron – $unknown – 310 Mile Range

Once Audi has a working Q6, their next goal is to create themselves a luxury electric sedan to go along with it. It’s expected to use 3 motors and provide between 430 and 500 horsepower depending on which mode you want to be driving in. The A9 e-tron isn’t going to be available until after the Q6 and might feature a lot of the same architecture, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on Q6 news if you’re interested in the A9.
