9. Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor
Used by: US and Canadian Police Force
Coolest feature: Body-on-frame construction
Perhaps the most popular police car used by cops in the US and Canada is the Ford Crown Victoria P71 Interceptor. Fondly called Crown Vic or P71, this car was manufactured by Ford from 1992 to 2911. Its predecessor when it comes to the most commonly used cop cars was the Chevrolet Caprice.
Powered by a rear-wheel drive, V8 engine, the P71 has a four-speed automatic transmission. Another feature that’s worth noting is the body-on-frame construction of the car. Unlike other vehicle models, the P71 can be repaired for a relatively cheap price even after a collision. For four years, Ford added an optional keyless entry and flex-fuel feature on the P71 police cars. Today, there are P71 reused as taxi cabs, so if you don’t see them used as cop cars, you can probably still ride one if you’re on your way to the airport.
