Coolest feature: Overhead valve configuration and fuel injection
Chevrolet seems to be a favorite among police squads when it comes to the vehicles they’re using. A standout model is the Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 which is classified by the manufacturer as a law enforcement squad car. It first appeared on the scene in 1972, when the Chevrolet Caprice was used as a Special Equipment Options vehicle. Several variations of the model was released over the years, with slight differences with the body and the engine.
The Caprice 9C1 was assembled in Texas, and most of what make up the engine are heavy-duty parts. Other notable features include fuel injection, as well as an overhead valve configuration. The engine can rev up to 260 horsepower and 5,000 rpms. Unlike traditional police cars which have a light bar on top, there are window-mounted lights at the back of the car along with front flashing lights. All in all, the Chevy Caprice is considered as one of the best police cruisers out there.
