In 1974, the Los Angeles County Sheriff department had a fleet of Chevy Nova police cars. The following year, they bought the Chevrolet Nova 9C1 cars which they added to their fleet of cop cars. As compared to its predecessor, the Chevy Nova 9C1 offers better handling and an excellent ride quality.
It has a bulky but strong body, while the engine can run from zero to 60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds. In addition, the engine has 170 horsepower of the 350 V8 variety, the top speed being 125 miles per hour. As compared to commercial cars, the Chevy Nova 9C1 is more heavy duty with its other engine features like valve springs and a Turbo Hydramatic transmission.
