13. Lenco BearCat
Used by: S.W.A.T, Police officers, Military Police, Homeland Security
Coolest feature: 0.5-inch thick steel armored body and bulletproof glass
This one, you’ve seen in many movies and maybe even in a few situations in real life or on the news. The Lenco BearCat is an armored car which has been used in many security and law enforcement agencies in the US like the S.W.A.T, Homeland Security, military, and police agencies. They are the go-to vehicle for hostage situations, when there are emergency situations where the public is placed in immediate danger, riots, and similar scenarios.
The armored vehicle is manufactured by Lenco, and the engine is similar to what’s on the Ford F-550. It has a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 6.7-liter turbo diesel. Body-wise, the car is protected with 0.5-inch thick steel armour. The glass all around the vehicle is bulletproof; it has gun ports; lights; a battering ram; sirens; floors which are blast-resistant; thermal cameras; a deployment nozzle for tear gas; roof hatches; and a Mobile Adjustable Ramp System or MARS. This can be used to lift police officers to the upper floor of two-storey buildings. It can also protect the police officers inside from explosives which are biological, nuclear, chemical, or radiological in nature. Truly, the BearCat is an all-in-one vehicle that’s probably the toughest one around.
