Coolest Police Cars From Around the Globe

In Hollywood movies, one of the most exciting parts is when a cop chases a criminal down busy city streets. During these scenes, the audience marvels at how fast cop cars are. Out of the limelight, however, these cops are facing real-life danger, which can cause them to be injured or put their own lives on the line. This is precisely the reason why it is the responsibility of the national government to ensure that their team of police officers are equipped with capable vehicles.

Even if there is no immediate danger, the mere fact that cops are protecting the public from threats puts their lives at risk. Although they can still apprehend criminals aboard regular cars, it will make their jobs a whole lot easier if the vehicle is equipped with extra features. Whether it’s a classic or a modern vehicle, here are some of the coolest cars used by police officers in different parts of the world:

1. AMC Matador Enforcer

Used by: Los Angeles Police Department
Coolest feature: 255-HP V8 engine, a federal siren, and a “Hot Sheet Desk”

If you’re a fan of the hit TV series “Police Academy” which was shown in the 1970s, you will easily recognize the AMC Matador Enforcer. The black-and-white vehicle has a long but “muscular” body and was used in the early part of the decade by the LAPD in the United States. To chase criminals away, cops can make the car run from zero to 60 miles per hour in just seven seconds, with its top speed being 125 mph.

The AMC Matador Enforcer was manufactured by the American Motors Company, with the production years lasting from 1972 to 1974. Its other features include an excellent-performing braking system; a “Hot Sheet Desk”, a federal siren, T-2 can lights, and a 5-channel Motorola Motrac 70 radio. Its powerful engine is a 401-cubic inch V8, producing up to 255 HP. Aside from Police Academy, this police car was also featured in other TV shows and movies in the 70s.
