- Empulse TT – Victory Motorcycles
Range: 100 miles
An attractive bike, the Empulse TT has 54 horsepower and 61 lb-ft torque. That’s not exactly a screamer, but in reality, that’s often more than enough power for most people. As long as you’re not taking it onto a track, you’re not going to have a problem with power. It still features a top speed of over 100 mph and electric bikes get off the line fast thanks to 100% of the power being available immediately. Sometimes it may feel low on torque when in the 30-50mph range, but that’s an acceptable tradeoff.
Victory is very proud of their 3.9-hour battery charge time. They advertise that as the fastest charging battery in a road motorcycle. The problem is that just isn’t true! There are several examples within this list of bikes that manage to charge much faster. The 100-mile range is reasonable and matches a lot of the bikes here. Like all of the bikes on the list, the way you drive is going to affect how long the electric motor can keep you flying along.
The Empulse TT currently retails for $19,999 as a base price. That’s actually pretty reasonable all things considering. There are cheaper options and there are more expensive ones, but the Empulse TT seems to fit in with near perfect moderation.
The Empulse TT is an attractive bike. However, due to the exposed nature of some of the components, they had to get creative. To combat the potential for damage to the electrics during a slide, the bike features frame sliders that have been mounted onto the side of the bike. Their purpose is purely to protect the soft innards in case something goes wrong and the bike is in a slide. It’s an important feature because electric power plants often need to be replaced in their entirety. Compare that to an internal combustion engine, and you can usually simply replace a single part or two at a much lower cost.
