The 2018 Karma Revero has been making headlines since it was announced. Its futuristic styling and the promise of a sleek electric vehicle with plenty of luxury certainly stand out. Despite a very hefty price tag, the Revero does live up to expectations, complete with 981 pound-feet of torque.
Styling
The 2018 Revero will turn heads wherever it goes thanks to an expressive design that polarizes crowds. While most love it, some will hate it, and there is not likely to be anyone who is indifferent. The front features two upper grille openings that are long. You will find LEDs in the front signature lighting and headlights, with the headlights being swept back into fenders that bulge upward.
The rear of the Revero is a bit more subdued but does include a blue hand-painted emblem. If you look at the Revero from the side, you may wonder about the cabin length, which helps with comfort but seems oddly proportioned compared to other similar autos.
Behind the Wheel
The 2018 Karma Revero will give you a quiet yet fun ride. The frame is lightweight thanks to the use of aluminum. In addition, the powertrain sits low, allowing for a stable, rigid Revero with an almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution from front to rear.
When you put the Revero in Sport Mode, it will reach 125 mph and only needs 5.4 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. The Revero gets up to 403 horsepower combined and features plenty of low-end torque. This comes via the 2-liter turbocharged EcoTec engine paired with the electric motor.
If you stick to electric-only driving, you will be able to go a full 50 miles, and there are even solar panels integrated into the roof to help you stay fully charged. When it comes time to recharge, you only need three hours with a level two charger. The battery holds 20.8 kWh.
Interior Styling and Comfort
Inside the Karma Revero, you will only find one trim level. There are no options other than a car cover or premium floor mats; you won’t need more. The handcrafted interior is one of the reasons for the high price tag on this vehicle. Minimally tanned leather wraps around the console, dash, and seats that feature an asymmetrical design. The console features unlacquered reclaimed wood. The front seats feature multilevel heating plus 6-way power adjustment. The driver’s hands rest on a two-tone three-spoke steering wheel, and the center console is spacious.
Technology
The interior also features a 10.2-inch screen that lets you control the dual-zone climate control and infotainment. That infotainment includes wireless streaming, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The technology extends to driver-assistive features, including automatic low-beam lighting, automatic windshield wipers, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, a rear back-up camera, tire pressure monitoring, and park distance monitoring. However, there is no adaptive cruise control.
Pricing and Warranty
While the 2018 Karma Revero is certainly pricey with all the customization options, the MSRP is on par with other similarly powered luxury hybrids. You also get some peace of mind with the four-year, 50,000-mile warranty.
