Anyone who loves sports cars has likely at least heard of the exciting Ferrari 812, also known as the 812 Superfast. This auto lives up to its reputation since most would agree that reaching 211 mph is indeed “super-fast.” The only downside of the Ferrari 812 is its high price tag since this supercar starts at $315,000. If you can afford it and like thrills, however, it is certainly worth consideration.
The Powertrain
With a vehicle like the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast, most auto enthusiasts want to know more about its powertrain. This Ferrari uses a 6.5-liter V12 engine that delivers 789 horsepower, sending that power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. This translates to 800 metric horsepower, leading to the “8” in the auto’s name. Even in the American ratings, the 812’s 789 horsepower is 59 horses more than the outgoing F12berlinetta it replaces. This increase in output was achieved by changing 75 percent of the engine.
Specific figures for the Ferrari 812 Superfast include 789 horsepower at 8,500 rpm with a maximum of 8,900 rpm. The torque peaks at 530 pound-feet at 7,000 rpm. If you drive the 812 at revs under 5,000 rpm, it will seem a bit tame. By 6,000 rpm, you get around 600 horsepower, which bumps up to 700 horses at 7,000 rpm. This Ferrari can reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and only needs 10.8 seconds to complete the quarter-mile.

It should come as no surprise that the Ferrari 812 has the aerodynamic styling needed to complement its engine’s powerful performance. Between the aerodynamic body panels and an active diffuser, you can tell at a glance that the Superfast means business. The 812 Superfast delivers sleekness with a two-box design featuring a high tail. This visually lowers the aggressive rear spoiler that helps ensure downforce. The flanks have a draped design to visually shorten the Ferrari’s tail.
The flanks have a striking vent right behind the front wheels, adding style as well as taking in high-pressure air from wheel arches to channel it to the doors. In the rear, you will find four rounded taillights that have clear inspiration from Ferrari tradition. They help deliver the imposing and broad stance of the Ferrari 812.
Inside the Ferrari 812
The interior of the Ferrari 812 is surprisingly spacious with a comfortable driving position. It also has great visibility on the sides and front, although the high tail impairs rear views somewhat. The radically redesigned cabin delivers a sportier character than the outgoing model it replaces. The surfaces are ultra-taut and carefully layered to make voids that give off the appearance of floating main elements. The combined effect is a Ferrari that delivers lean elegance and an eagerness to race.
In front of the driver, the horizontal dashboard has a stylish loop by the central air vents, honoring the LaFerrari cockpit. Ferrari describes the design language of the seats as diapason with an expansiveness that plays off of voids and solids. The seats’ perforated leather trim provides comfort and sporty styling.
