2018 Nissan Armada

The largest SUV in the Nissan lineup, the 2018 Nissan Armada is large enough for a family and strong enough to tow your trailer or boat. This SUV feels upscale enough to be a luxury auto but still offers the Nissan advantages, like lower pricing, to deliver a great value. The Armada is actually the Infiniti QX80’s cousin, so any resemblance you see between the two are not your imagination. There are also four different trim levels available for the Armada so you can fit your wish list to your budget and needs.

Under the Hood

The Nissan Armada is available with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, but it always uses the same 5.6-liter V8 powertrain with a 7-speed automatic transmission. That engine delivers 394 pound-feet and 390 horsepower. Thanks to its body-on-frame construction, the Armada with the towing package can handle 8,500 pounds. While the Armada itself is bulky, weighing almost 6,000 pounds, you may or may not be aware of that weight when you drive, thanks to the V8. Don’t let the body-on-frame construction give you concern about ride quality. The fully independent suspension helps make up for it.

Incredibly Spacious

As a full-size SUV, the 2018 Nissan Armada will definitely meet your requirements if you want a spacious auto. Adults can fit in the third row of seats but will likely prefer to leave it to the children. The second row can include either a three-seat bench or two individual bucket seats complete with a full center console between them. The interior materials range from standard cloth to two-tone leather depending on your selected trim. You will always get convincing faux wood trim and soft-touch materials. One place that the Armada truly excels is cargo space. Even with all seats occupied, you still get 16.5 cubic feet for cargo. Folding the third row increases this to almost 50 cubic feet or you can fold down the second row as well and get 95.4.

Interior Comfort and Features

In addition to being spacious inside, you will find touches of comfort, such as amply padded front seats with more than enough power-adjustment options. The issue with the third row is not its space; some may just have mild difficulty in accessing it. All models have front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights, Bose speakers, navigation, keyless ignition, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. You can choose to upgrade your Armada to include an auto-dimming rearview mirror and power liftgate. You can also get driver’s seat memory, fog lights, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and more.

Safety

Nissan made sure to include plenty of safety features and technologies on the 2018 Armada to ensure it’s a great family vehicle. All models have six airbags, including curtain airbags across all three rows, a rearview camera, and anti-lock brakes. You can also get blind-spot monitoring, active lane control, and automatic emergency braking. There is also a new rearview camera that gives you a live feed from the back of the vehicle. It essentially gives you a view like that of the rearview mirror but without the blind spots from people’s heads and head rests.
