There is a great deal of excitement about the upcoming 2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup, but we do still have to wait a little bit longer before anyone gets the chance to get behind the wheel, other than the team at Jeep. Even so, more and more details are slowly being revealed, all of which only serves to make Jeep enthusiasts and automotive experts alike even more excited about the upcoming Wrangler Pickup.
Shares Wrangler JL Architecture
Based on the limited spy shots and information released, we know that the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup will share its general structure with the all-new Jeep Wrangler JL. It seems to be built off of the four-door version of the Wrangler SUV, and the cabin and everything in front are actually nearly identical. In spy photos, you can spot little details, like the LED headlights and turn signals mounted to the fenders.
Experts looking at the spy shots also noticed that the windshield on the 2019 Wrangler Pickup has the same windshield design as the new Wrangler JL SUV. They take that to mean that it should be able to fold down just like on the new SUV, something that outdoor enthusiasts will definitely appreciate when off-roading. To further prove this point, the spy shots show a seam that runs horizontally underneath the glass and bulges by the edges that could very well be hinges.

The Pickup Bed
Going off of the spy shots and other information we have available so far, the shared architecture with the Wrangler SUV gives you an idea of how wide the Wrangler Pickup will be. Other industry experts already did the math and put the Wrangler Pickup at about 5 inches narrower compared to the Ram 1500. They also managed to grab some spy shots of the area underneath the pickup bed, which shows off a suspension system that should focus on stabilizing loads. Based on a previous leak, the pickup frame should be 205 inches, giving us a 215- to 220-inch overall length. If this is true, the Wrangler Pickup will be just a hair shorter than a full-size pickup and a minimum of 2 feet longer than its four-door SUV counterpart.
You Still Have to Wait
The bad news about the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup is that you need to have a lot of patience if you want to drive this auto. Back in 2016, Jeep said that it would come in late 2017, but that clearly was not the case. Well before that original predicted date arrived, Jeep moved the production back all the way to late 2019. The team at Jeep says this is to ensure there are no problems with the Wrangler SUV before they start making the pickup.
With a production date so far in the future, it is no surprise that we lack information about the Jeep Wrangler Pickup or even a concept model. Most experts predict that we’ll see a debut version at some point late this year at an auto show.
