The Chevrolet Bolt EV is one of the few electric vehicles on the market, although the segment is growing. It stands out from the other options with its affordability and range of 238 miles. This model also breaks stereotypes of what an EV should be, giving a modern feel with plenty of luxury, comforts, and advanced technology.

Getting to Know the Powertrain
As mentioned, the Bolt EV can travel an EPA-estimated 238 miles on a single charge. Considering that the typical daily commute averages 40 miles as a round trip, this makes it an excellent option for most drivers. This Chevrolet proves that an EV doesn’t have to be slow or lack engine output, with 266 pound-feet of torque and the ability to reach 60 mph from a standstill in less than 6.5 seconds.
Features to Extend Range
To further help the Bolt EV make the most of its range, it features Regen on Demand. Just pull on the paddle attached to the steering wheel, and you can slow down without having to use the brake pedal. This process is completely safe and allows the system to convert more energy during deceleration into electricity, which is sent back to the battery and extends your range.
One-Pedal Driving also helps increase the range, working in Low mode regardless of speed. Just lift your foot from the accelerator to slow down or even stop. By reducing your use of brakes, the range extends. The only caveat is that it might be limited when the battery is cold or almost full. One-Pedal Driving also doesn’t let you stop as quickly as using the brake pedal, meaning you should never use it in emergencies. Even so, this innovation helps the Bolt EV stand out from the growing EV segment.

Easy to Charge
Charging is not a concern with the Chevrolet Bolt EV. With a 240-volt, 32-amp charging unit, you will get 25 miles of range in each hour of charging. Or you can take advantage of DC Fast Charging public stations to get 90 miles in about 30 minutes. The Bolt EV does also charge with a 120-volt outlet, but it will take longer.
Styling and Features of Other Chevrolets
Just because it is an electric vehicle, that doesn’t mean that the Bolt EV sacrifices style or features. Every model has a rear-vision camera and a 10.2-inch diagonal touchscreen in color. You can also get leather on a heated steering wheel. Regardless of the trim, the Bolt EV is sleek with a solid stance and has a huge cargo area, fitting up to 56.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
No Safety Sacrifice
One of the remarkable things about the Bolt EV is that although it is small, it does a very good job at keeping the driver and passengers safe. In fact, it is a 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick as long as you configure it with the available Driver Confidence II Package. The Bolt EV always has 10 airbags, as well. It also offers Surround Vision and a rear camera mirror in addition to the standard rear-vision camera.
