Bricklin SV-1

The Bricklin SV-1 was ahead if its time and it one of the best-looking sports cars from the 70s. The Bricklin was only produced from 74-75, with fewer than 3,000 cars built while losing $21 million over that short time. What made this car so cool to us? The creator Malcolm Bricklin wanted to create an extremely safe and affordable sports car. In fact, SV-1 stands for “safety vehicle one”, the Bricklin included a roll cage, side beams and didn’t have a cigarette lighter or ashtray to discourage smoking. This is common in most new cars, but not having an ashtray was unheard of in 1974.
