#9: 2015 Lamborghini Huracan
Lamborghini fans, take a breath. Here it finally is: The 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, the first bull on our list, unsurprisingly takes a spot in our top 10 with a zero-to-60 time of just 2.5 seconds. The Huracan is not a typical Lamborghini. That is to say (sorry, Lambo fans) we find the Huracan to not only be a screamer, but a practical and well-designed car.
To be sure, Lamborghinis have always been superfluous, in form and function. Exaggerated fins, strakes, and obnoxiously pointed bits often eschew any visage of conventional car design. While exotics should look the part, the Lamborghini has always managed to sacrifice at least some measure of long-term joy in favor of immediate, drunken satisfaction. That is not the case with the Huracan.
For starters, the Huracan manages to evolve the Lamborghini profile with a new pointed-arrow body which also provides massive downforce. The rear fascia is sculpted in such a way that no spoiler or fin is needed. Carbon-ceramic brakes come standard for track day, and a massive 5.2L V10 powerplant making a minimum of 602 horses and 413 torques. Although perhaps these numbers are significantly lower when compared to other cars above, the Huracan uses some serious powerplant and drivetrain magic to get all four wheels spinning the Huracan up to 212 MPH.
Its four-wheel-drive system is probably the most advanced of any car on our list. The Huracan utilizes three gyroscopes and an advanced traction control brain to map the Huracan’s position and movement in real time, across all three planes. The ECU then determines how much power to send to each wheel, individually. This alone allows the Huracan to corner impossibly well, letting the Performante version of the car to lap the Nürburgring in a blistering 6:52. This means the Huracan snatches the record from the Porsche 918 Spyder as the fastest production car at the infamous German track.
