Alfa Romeo Caimano
The Alfa Romeo Caimano was a concept car that Giorgetto Giugiaro designed while part of Italdesign. He is a name known in the auto industry for designing many cars including some Lamborghini and Ferrari models. The vehicle was shown off during the 1971 Turin Motor Show and today, it sits in the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo. It has numerous design elements that are unconventional, including a glass canopy-windshield that includes the doors. There is a trapezoidal roll bar by the rear formed by the B and C pillars. This roll bar is also an adjustable spoiler. You will also notice pop-up headlights, two small windows on the doors designed for ventilation, and a large logo of Alfa Romeo on the hood. All these elements combine to create an impeccable design that is at once recognizable and inspiring.
The concept’s 1.2-liter engine works with a 5-speed manual. This engine is combined with the Boxer H4 engine to produce 86 bhp. Some of the concept’s elements were taken from the Alfa Romeo Alfasud, including the chassis that is shortened by nearly 8 inches. Though it did not hit production, it is a concept car that is well-remembered for its commanding style and truly unique design.
