Ferrari Mythos

The Ferrari Mythos has a mid-engine setup and rear-wheel drive. This concept car features the Ferrari Testarossa’s mechanical underpinnings. Pininfarina designed the Mythos and Ferrari developed it. The concept premiered during the Tokyo Motor Show in 1989. Thanks to its use of the Testarossa’s platform, the Mythos had a wedge shape as well as large air-intake in front of the rear wheels. This design would later become that of the F50.

The engine is a 4.99-liter Ferrari flat-12 Tip F113 B from the Testarossa. It delivers 390 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. The Ferrari Mythos also features a 5-speed manual from the Testarossa. The Mythos uses a helical coil suspension system that includes transverse arms both in front and rear. Although we do not know the acceleration of this vehicle, the projected top speed is around 180 mph. Though never officially produced, the Ferrari Mythos was a prominent feature in the award-winning 1990 video racing arcade game, Test Drive III. It can be found in the Museo Ferrari and Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari. Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, also commissioned two Mythos, in turquoise and red. This goes to show that the only way to get your hands on some of these concept cars is to be a rich, politically-prominent figure.
