Buick Encore
The first and last SUV on the list made it here due to its exceptionally lower price (when compared to other modern SUVs) and the fact that it’s a crossover between an economy car and an SUV. The Buick Encore features a wide range of Buick’s latest designs and technologies in its 2017 rework. The most notable inner features include an 8-inch touch screen and a start button. The one thing that everyone should pay some attention to is the fact that the Encore’s engine is measly at the least, which can be changed by purchasing anything other than the standard version.
The basic engine is a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder that reaches only up to 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission. When we take into account the fact that the Encore weighs an impairing 3,200 pounds, it becomes evident that it won’t develop speed as fast as other vehicles. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in as much as 9 seconds, which is probably its least impressive feature. However, this car was primarily made to keep its passengers alive and well, and that, it excels at.
The Buick Encore has 10 airbags, a rear-view camera, Bluetooth, 4G LTE data connection, Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Lane-departure and forward-collision warning systems, including rear cross-traffic alert and the innovative blind-spot monitoring technology are some of the most prominent virtues of the Encore. Like the ILX, the Encore scored 5/5 on NHTSA’s safety testing, with stellar marks in everything but rollovers, while the IIHS also rates this car a Top Safety Pick. Some would argue that the Buick’s warning systems are somewhat too sensitive to various non-threatening situations, but experts and numerous owners say that this keeps people alive in either case.
The 2017 Encore comes in one version, with either a front or an all-wheel drive option, including four optional trim variants. The vehicle also comes with power windows and locks, as well as heated mirrors, leather-trim cloth upholstery, cruise control, IntelliLink infotainment, 18-inch alloy wheels and a power driver’s seat. The dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start and fog lamp systems contribute even further to the overall technological prowess of this impressive SUV. All things combined, not a single Buick Encore owner will ever feel unsafe in their vehicle, and the only slight impairment they can experience is the obvious speed setback. For those that don’t mind slower giants, the Buick Encore is an extremely good choice.
