Acura ILX
While all kinds of cars offer numerous variants for a single version, all of which make up for the lacks in one another, the Acura ILX comes in only one stable version, with three distinguishable trims. While the engine, transmission and other important parts do not vary at all, the modification packages are sure to offer a wide variety of aerodynamics and overall appearance. For those looking to have a viable sporty family race car, the ILX is a great option. The initial price isn’t all-that-great, but there’s significantly less money that needs to be invested in maintaining it, so it’ll all pay back in the long run.
The ILX comes with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and the paddle-shifting dual-clutch 8-speed automated transmission. With a standard 201 horsepower and 180 pounds per foot of torque, this vehicle prides on its stability, ease of maneuverability and overall simplicity. The interior is designed in an extremely readable fashion, especially the advanced controls and meters. While rarely heard of, the Acura ILX can directly compare with the Mercedes CLA and the Audi A3. While this isn’t a new model per se, it gets an overhaul almost every year – and with good reason. The 2016 update featured inner materials of higher quality, LED headlights and numerous connectivity upgrades, among which is the dual-screen information-entertainment system. Every year of update (2017 aside), the ILX keeps up to par with the most technologically advanced competition.
Another brilliant asset of this vehicle is the five-star NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) crash safety rating, while the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) considers it immaculate in safely taking small overlap frontal impacts – which is something that almost no other car has achieved. While the hard work in the making of this car didn’t go as much into what makes it go so fast, it’s evident that its creators were aiming for an impregnable four-wheel fortress, and they’ve apparently come a long way with that idea.
The newest (2017) ILX is estimated to be able to run about 29 miles a gallon in the city and on the highway combined. Premium fuel is a viable recommendation for this car, but anyone not willing to dish out this kind of money can still use its full potential. If it isn’t evident by now, the ILX easily makes this list because of its uncontested viability and family safety, that still comes at a much lower price than most 5/5 safe cars.
